The application of 100town needs your Video card supports OpenGL and has enough RAM. It is not a problem to most of home PC. But for some notebooks there are only on-board video cards and there is no chance to upgrade them later. So have a look at your video card’s configuration about RAM and OpenGL version etc because 3D applications have already been everywhere.
There are diversified brand of video cards in the market. We will try to give as much as possible information about 3D support by different video cards if we know.
There are three major manufactures of video cards, ATI/AMD, NVIDIA and Intel. Right now we find NVIDIA series and Intel have better support for OpenGL. ATI/AMD, by contrast, seems to put more attention on implementing drivers to support Direct X (Except they have fireGL series to support OpenGL).
There is an easy way to find the OpenGL version your video cards supports if you don’t know the exact information about it – install the software OpenGL extensions viewer from www.realtech-vr.com to have a check.
If your video card can only support OpenGL Extensions 1.1 and 1.2 that means you cannot use our application, World wind java and most JOGL programs.
If you realize your video card is not capable of running some 3D application, try to update your drivers from its venders.

There is a short introduction about how to update video card drivers at NASA on windows platform.
For opensuse users having an NVIDIA video cards, visit http://en.opensuse.org/NVIDIA for driver updating tutorials. There is one driver repository at server ftp://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/ for yast.
It is reported the openGL/JOGL programs have poor performance on notebooks which have in-board ATI mobility Radeon series video cards because it is difficult to upgrade the drivers. If you want to try unofficial ways of upgrading drivers, please visit here.
